How impotent can we be?

Posted in Current Affairs at 6:14 am by The Intellectual Terrorist

Nothing’s changed. The below article was written in July 2006.
We’re in Dec 2008 now and nothing’s really changed.
We’ve had nearly 200 people killed and around 400 injured. Add loss of property as well.

What we need to do:
1. After the Mumbai blasts in 93, Tiger Memom quickly moved to the Middle East. The Saudis and the other emirates were more than willing to offer him protection.
Dawood Ibrahim has been in Pakistan for sometime now. His daughter is married to Miandad’s son. There’s no way that he would have missed his own daughter’s marriage .. either in Dubai or Pakistan.
India need to go in and take out people like Dawood, if the countries there are in are not going to surrender them. India needs to take action now and also intensify the political pressure on Pakistan. Press the US to cut all aid .. since most of the aid is getting into training terrorists.
India should also get the facts out on this particular situation and place the evidence of Pakistan’s involvement before the global community.
It’s a known fact that the Pakistani govt has little control over the army and the terrorist network.
The ISI and the army are the agencies in Pakistan that need to be dealt with. Also the India agencies need to ensure that we have no trouble coming in from our other neighbors.
Bottomline: Get into Pakistan and Bangladesh and finish of the terror camps.

2. Intensify border patrol. Ensure that illegal immigrants cannot enter in – either through Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal China, Bhutan or Burma.

3. Ensure that Indian police and military personnel are paid better and better equipped.
As citizens we interact more with the police than the military. The police are paid poorly, live in poverty, are over-worked and have obsolete equipment. The men in brown need to be paid better, trained better, and get the latest equipment to deal with such situations.
All police officers who are physically unfit (90% of the force) should be forced to get into shape.

4. The Mumbai terror situation should be better handled. The media was all over the place right next to the Taj. At Nariman House, the people had filled the streets, when the operation was underway.
Commandos, army officers and the police were giving the media regular updates.
Why have a media circus? Keep the media as far away from the situation as possible. Cordon off the people.

5. Outsiders. Yes the terrorists were outsiders. Where were the MNS and Raj Thackeray when these outsiders needed to be removed? We need some serious politicians not some buffoons.

As citizens, there is little we can do. The intelligence and the other agencies need to do the work that they are being paid to do. As citizens we expect these people to do their job and ensure that our life and property is not at risk !! Selfish maybe .. but if these folks cannot do their job why have them on payroll? Why the Global stock meltdown makes me happy?

Posted in Current Affairs, Humour at 1:12 am by The Editor

Before the readers reach out to pelt stones at my phantom, I would make four reasonable statements:

1. I am not a sadist who feels happy that the millions of dollars which people invested in the stock market have vanished into thin air. But I do strongly believe that the millions that we think that the markets have lost were never there in the first place! I always feel happy if what is an illogical phenomena comes to a logical end. To me the ever upward movement of stocks was illogical and bizarre and hence its abrupt end makes me happy. Read more »

The Aristocrats

Posted in Education, Humour at 1:09 am by The Editor

5:20 pm
I stared at the screen of my cell phone as I walked into the empty tuition classroom and placed my bag at the seat I usually occupied- third bench from the back, right in the row next to the window. I’d come early again to claim that seat- sought after by many like me. Let me introduce you to the aristocracy prevalent inside the IITJEE classroom. It originated from the merit list pinned on the notice board.. an article I had learnt to treat with obstinate indifference for more than half a year. Read more »
