Nothing’s changed. The below article was written in July 2006.
We’re in Dec 2008 now and nothing’s really changed.
We’ve had nearly 200 people killed and around 400 injured. Add loss of property as well.
What we need to do:
1. After the Mumbai blasts in 93, Tiger Memom quickly moved to the Middle East. The Saudis and the other emirates were more than willing to offer him protection.
Dawood Ibrahim has been in Pakistan for sometime now. His daughter is married to Miandad’s son. There’s no way that he would have missed his own daughter’s marriage .. either in Dubai or Pakistan.
India need to go in and take out people like Dawood, if the countries there are in are not going to surrender them. India needs to take action now and also intensify the political pressure on Pakistan. Press the US to cut all aid .. since most of the aid is getting into training terrorists.
India should also get the facts out on this particular situation and place the evidence of Pakistan’s involvement before the global community.
It’s a known fact that the Pakistani govt has little control over the army and the terrorist network.
The ISI and the army are the agencies in Pakistan that need to be dealt with. Also the India agencies need to ensure that we have no trouble coming in from our other neighbors.
Bottomline: Get into Pakistan and Bangladesh and finish of the terror camps.
2. Intensify border patrol. Ensure that illegal immigrants cannot enter in – either through Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal China, Bhutan or Burma.
3. Ensure that Indian police and military personnel are paid better and better equipped.
As citizens we interact more with the police than the military. The police are paid poorly, live in poverty, are over-worked and have obsolete equipment. The men in brown need to be paid better, trained better, and get the latest equipment to deal with such situations.
All police officers who are physically unfit (90% of the force) should be forced to get into shape.
4. The Mumbai terror situation should be better handled. The media was all over the place right next to the Taj. At Nariman House, the people had filled the streets, when the operation was underway.
Commandos, army officers and the police were giving the media regular updates.
Why have a media circus? Keep the media as far away from the situation as possible. Cordon off the people.
5. Outsiders. Yes the terrorists were outsiders. Where were the MNS and Raj Thackeray when these outsiders needed to be removed? We need some serious politicians not some buffoons.
As citizens, there is little we can do. The intelligence and the other agencies need to do the work that they are being paid to do. As citizens we expect these people to do their job and ensure that our life and property is not at risk !! Selfish maybe .. but if these folks cannot do their job why have them on payroll? Since Pepsi and Coke are now being banned in most states and also in schools and offices, the soft drink companies have started selling the colas to farmers. Farmers are using these colas as pesticides and spraying them indiscriminately in their fields, causing greater concern for environmentalists. Over indulgent mothers are now worried that children will start eating more vegetables and consume coke clandestinely through natural means. Read more »

Fat people need to be banned. At least from public places.
Obese people consume a lot of space, especially in crowded cities. Valuable real estate is usurped by these large mammals. Just like you see signs on a small street that say ‘No Heavy Vehicles Allowed’, we should have signs on streets that say ‘No Heavy People Allowed’. Imagine having to jostle with the crowds in a Mumbai local. Throw a few fat people in and you stand no chance. Smaller people shouldn’t need to make space for these human equivalent of SUV’s. Very few people know this. Balaji Telefilms doesn’t have a scipt writer. They have a computer program that writes(generates) the script.
This is how they do it.
They feed the computer a list of standard entities consisting of the below:

Mahatma Gandhi had remarked that he wore minimal clothing since there were millions of people in his country with little clothes to wear. His famous words were ignored for decades until we hit the late 90’s and the younger generation decided to go Gandhian. Minimalist clothing is in. Tank tops, low necks, low waists, even lower waists, backless .. wow .. everything is in. Gandhi would have been proud!! Alas, our academicians are not.

I’m socially at that stage where everyone around me is having sex. And they’re making this knowledge very public with a,” I have some good news”.
What’s good news about having kids? After all aren’t kids the same nasty creatures that have robbed me of my friends and turned them into that extremely weird species called parents?
KIDS. That 4 letter word!! Read more »

…and Why You Should Too
(This is from one of my older writings, but still relevant.)
Consider the following: the girl makes persistent phone calls to the actor, addresses him flirtatiously by his first name. She does not object to his sexual pass, “I’ll give you a massage if you are tired or you can give me a massage if I am tired,” and invites him late at night to her hotel room, serves him vodka with the excuse of seeking professional guidance. — The Indian Express
This raises many issues. Read more »
