Eating In Pune

After 5 days of working in Pune, I have yet to go around much except for the little area in Koregaon Park bound by North Main Road, Lane 5, 6, 7, and 8, all within walking distance from hotel to office. It’s Friday evening so I finally take the time to read up a little on Pune.

This neighbourhood in Pune apparently has quite a bit of Western influence mainly due to the large number of Western tourists attracted here by the (in)famous Osho Meditation Resort. When my coworker PB from Toronto asked if I’ve been there yet, I could only shake my head in ignorance. Then he proceeded to tell me that this is a fancy ashram of a guru whose’s theory of sex leading to spiritual enlightening is quite controversial. More on this on another day. Read more »

Arrived in Mumbai

I started my journey in Toronto’s Pearson Airport terminal 3 yesterday. As prescripted by the doctor, I had a light meal of milk and Dijon chicken sandwich at Brioche Dorée to go with my Malarone before my flight. Brioche Dorée is a popular franchise in France but I didn’t know that we have one in Toronto. The Malarone is STRONG! I was quickly put into a delicious stupor that kept me asleep for the duration of most of the flight. Read more »

How do you design a holiday for an Abu Dhabi born, Melbourne settled, 21-year-old law student fresh from a European vacation? In her teens she had suffered Ajanta & Ellora, fainted in Shirdi, partied in Goa and gone tiger spotting in Kanha with us. How could we make this one memorable?

Lonely Planet’s India was dusted off, the Internet surfed, travel magazines read cover to cover and atlases checked page by page. Since variety is the spice of life, the essentials were identified-thoda masti(bit of fun), history, wildlife, culture, temples and everything else in between. Let’s go south, was the consensus.
