The research team, after interacting with daily wage workers, found that wages in the city show a decline. ‘‘In 1998-99, the wage for unskilled male labourers was Rs 60-Rs 120 and in 1999-2000, it increased to Rs 75-Rs 140. But in 2001-02, it declined to Rs 60-Rs 100. Now, an unskilled labourer gets a daily wage of up to Rs 90,’’ says the report.
