Schools mull ways to screen young students
Indian Express A Delhi High Court has recently directed that no private schools should conduct interviews of either the children or their parents for admission to the nursery classes. In Pune, while local private schools are in a tizzy over the ruling since it affects their screening process, parents are happy because ‘‘it would save us from months of anxiety and not stress out young children.’’
The Bishop’s School principal Frank Freese feels any other alternative to admit children is equally anxiety-ridden. ‘‘If we have a lottery system, that too would make parents tense and nervous.’’
While some schools have a computer selection process or a first-come-first policy, Sanghvi says the neighbourhood school concept would work the best. ‘‘Children living close to the school should be given admission first,’’ she says.
