Meteor found in Antarctica killed 90% species

INTERNATIONAL REPORTER A big crater in Antarctica has been found and it is believed to have caused by a meteor that might have wiped out more than 90 per cent of the species on the Earth, about 250 million years ago, as per American geologist who gave his viewpoint on Wednesday.

The 480-km-wide crater lies hidden more than 1.5 km beneath a sheet of ice and was discovered by scientists using satellite data, Ohio State University geologist Ralph von Frese said.

on Frese said the satellite data suggests the crater could date back about 250 million years to the time of the Permian-Triassic extinction, when almost all animal life on Earth died out, paving the way for dinosaurs to rise to prominence. The crater was found in what’s known as the Wilkes Land region of the East Antarctic Ice Sheet.

Google Firefox Sync tool a winner

ITWIRE While all the media and Google fanboys go crazy over the pedal powered Google Spreadsheet application, trust Google to go quietly about its business and release a genuinely useful online product. Google Browser Sync enables you to save all your pertinent Firebox settings, including bookmarks, passwords and whatever else you need to be up and running the last time you used your browser in a central location at Google.

This new application, called Google Browser Sync (no prizes for guessing which browser Google prefers), will be particularly useful for Firefox users who work from multiple sites. Let’s face it, internet access from computers other than our own is becoming an increasingly common occurrence. Having access to all your bookmarks, passwords, history and cookies is what makes turns the browser into your own personal online desktop, which is the value add of this application.
