Two micro-entrepreneurs script success story with perseverance and patience

IndianExpress: A few years ago when Pranaya Patil and Amin Almel embarked on a business venture their assets were perseverance, patience and a never-say-die attitude. Today, those investments have paid off and both these micro-entrepreneurs are recipients of national awards.

Pranaya and Amin’s success story is a typical saga of starting their business from their residences and moving on from there to make a mark in their respective fields. If Amin found success through the production of tyre inflators, it was soft luggage manufacturing that shaped Pranaya’s career.
‘‘While starting, I had no capital and had to rely on family members for making the equipment. Right now I have more than 20 employees under me,’’ says a proud Amin.

Patil on the other hand manufactures over 1,000 units of soft luggage a month. ‘‘When I started, I did not have any money and used to make the bags myself, which was about 10 a day,’’ she remembers.

Autorickshaw drivers can no more take passengers for a ride

IndianExpress: CITIZENS will neither have to put up with rude autorickshaw drivers nor bear with over-charging. If either of it happens, they can write to the Regional Transport Office (RTO) which promises to help individuals harassed by auto drivers. All one has to do is to provide the registration number of the vehicle and the nature of the complaint.

The system is not new, say RTO officials. ‘‘Generally, we receive around five to six letters from the citizens in a month,’’ the official said. However, the Regional Transport Authority has asked the RTO to take strict action on such complaints
The RTO’s prosecution department will register the complaint and when the auto driver comes for renewal of permit, he will have to report to the prosecution department, pay the fine and get his permit renewed, the official said.
