Japan launches Sun ‘microscope’

BBCNews: Scientists have high hopes for Japan’s Solar-B mission which has just been launched from the Uchinoura spaceport.

The spacecraft will investigate the colossal explosions in the Sun’s atmosphere known as solar flares.

These dramatic events release energy equivalent to tens of millions of hydrogen bombs in just a few minutes.

Projector size of sugar cube made

BBCNews: A video projector that is the size of a sugar cube has been created by researchers.
The miniature device could be used to project images from mobile phones, PDAs or laptops, according to the team.

It was created by researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute in Germany.

Traditional projectors use arrays of millions of mirrors to display footage, but this petite prototype comprises a single tiny mirror.

The width of the projector measures less than 16mm; its height and depth is 9mm

The contest demands stringing together a randomly generated list of words in a logical and grammatically correct fashion.

Microsoft Live Search on Nokia

TechTree: Nokia consumers can now access Microsoft’s Live Search directly from N Series multimedia computers, and other compatible Nokia S60 devices.

Nokia has signed an agreement with Microsoft to integrate Live Search services into its Mobile Search platform.

Microsoft Live Search on Nokia phones will provide advanced Web search results in 14 languages, and enable consumers with the content they want while on the move. The service will also provide quick and easy access to information such as stock quotes, movie times, and common facts via Encarta Instant Answers.
