IndianExpress: Pune’s ambition to become the first WiFi city in the country through a public-private partnership received a minor setback when only one company responded to the Pune Municipal Corporation’s tender process to ‘unwire’ the city. With just AirCell sending its bid for setting up WiMax and WiFi network in the city, the PMC has been forced to extend the deadline till Thursday.
‘‘Initially, nearly 30 private companies had shown their interest in participating in ‘Unwired Pune’ project and nearly nine companies participated in the pre-bid meeting. But when it came to submitting bids, just one company participated in the process,’’ a civic official said.
