Sindh Society ups security ante

IndianExpress: NOW that Hollywood’s celebrity couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are here to shoot for A Mighty Heart at one of the bungalows in Sindh Cooperative Housing Society in Aundh, its residents, fearing that their society is at a risk, have asked the managing committee to step up security.

‘‘When we gave permission for shooting the film about a fortnight ago, we had no idea that it was such a huge project and on such a controversial topic —or else we may not have granted the permission at all,’’ said a committee member. The film is based on Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl who was beheaded in Pakistan.

InfiniBand meets storage networking

News.com: InfiniBand, a high-speed communication technology, has been extended to speak the language of iSCSI networked storage systems.

The addition, called iSER, gives a high-end boost to the lower-end iSCSI technology. In its current incarnation, iSCSI uses conventional 1-gigabit-per-second Ethernet networking and is typically slower than its 4Gbps rival, Fibre Channel. With iSER, it can tap the performance of InfiniBand, which communicates at 10Gbps, but can reach 20Gbps if used with the InfiniBand DDR (double data rate) hardware introduced this year, said Len Rosenthal, the marketing representative for the InfiniBand Trade Association.
