IndianExpress: Pune will once again come on the global map, this time for its healthcare. Perhaps for the first time in the country, a super specialty hospital dedicated to women and children will be set up in the city.
The 250-bed, Rs 80-crore project is modeled on the lines of the London-based Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital and Queen Charlotte’s Hospital for women and Sydney Westmead Children’s Hospital of Australia. The super specialty hospital will be set up in technical and medical collaboration with the UK-based healthcare consultants Health Systems Ltd.

IndianExpress: In a blatant misuse of official machinery, the elected representatives of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) who have used their official vehicles outside the city limits, have failed to pay the fine imposed on them. In fact, even after two notices were sent to nine persons, only four of them have even responded to the notices.
The first notice was sent on August 28 and the second notice asking them — mayor Rajani Tribhuvan, deputy mayor Nilesh Magar, leader of the house Ramesh Bagve, opposition leader Mahadeo Babar, standing committee chairperson Sangeeta Deokar, BJP leader Ujjwal Keskar, former mayor Deepti Chaudhary, former deputy mayor Dilip Barate and former chairman of standing committee Rashid Shaikh — to pay the fine was sent again on October 6. Municipal secretary Sharad Samel, who had sent the notices, had also informed them that if they failed to pay the fines, then he would have to pay up.
