Boost in legal process outsourcing
indianexpress: MINDCREST, a legal outsourcing firm, announced the launch of its new 400-seat facility in Pune on Thursday to hire lawyers. The company provides legal support across the enterprise in the US, Canada and the UK in finance, human resources, real estate, mergers and acquisitions, sales and marketing, procurement, manufacturing and legal.
Ganesh Natarajan, co-founder and CEO of Mindcrest said, “This is another step towards achieving our goal of investing in the high growth LPO sector. The centre being set up in Pune will form the core for the delivery of Legal Process Outsourcing (LPO) services and we hope to learn and add more and more value-added services to the current LPO offering.
“According to a study by the US-based Forrester Research, the current annual value of legal outsourcing which is worth $80 million can rise up to $4 billion in India by 2015, hence Mindcrest is set to go for the next level of growth” he added.
George B Hefferan III, vice president, Mindcrest, said, “There are immense opportunities in LPO services in the legal markets. This presents a huge opportunity for India in terms of employment generation and wealth creation for its skilled labour pool. Mindcrest’s approach and focus on next generation values will allow it to create a niche for itself and become the industry leader.”

1. What kind of work will I be doing at an LPO firm?
LPOs do a wide variety of legal and paralegal work depending upon their requirements of their foreign clients - mostly US or UK based. The work could range from paralegal work like summarizing, organising, transcribing (voice to written) legal documents to legal work like revising basic contracts and researching legal issues. The areas in which the work is based can range from contracts to property to intellectual property. So you can even pick an LPO depending upon the kind of work that you’re competent to do or enjoy doing.
2. Who are the well known LPO recruiters?
The well-known LPO recruiters essentially fall into 3 categories - (a) firms set up by foreign law firms or companies to purely support their own work (b) BPO firms that are also doing LPO work now and (c) specialised LPO firms that are providing services to multiple clients.
3. What are the pay packages like?
Entry level pay packages can range from Rs30000 a month to Rs.60000 a month depending upon your qualifications. If you are a qualified law graduate with paralegal studies or graduate with Paralegal studies could earn on the higher side.
4. What kind of qualifications do you require to work with an LPO?
This depends on the requirements of the LPO. For instance, for paralegal work, like document formatting, coding, summarising and basic legal documents even a BA ,Bsc. Bcom,LLB graduate would be sufficiently qualified, especially if he has received LPO training.
