Code numbers fox students
indianexpress: A discrepancy in the code numbers mentioned on admission forms of standard XI science stream created some confusion among students applying through the Centralised Admission Procedure (CAP) underway at various junior colleges in the city.
The admission form for the science stream comprises a list of junior colleges along with the allotted code numbers, to assist students while filling their preference. At the end of the form, another list of the colleges and their respective cut-off percentages in the year 2006-07 was also included.
However, while the colleges in the first list were numbered as 011 to 120, the cut-off list was numbered 11 to 119.
As a result, in most cases, the number allotted to each college was different in each list. Some students were anxious whether this would result in admissions to wrong colleges.
Education officials explained that the cut-off list was to enable students to choose colleges realistically. “Students who had doubts about the code numbers were explained ,” said junior clerk Arvind More.
Deputy Education Inspector VL Vahile said the change in code numbers was because the Abasaheb Garware College was earlier mentioned twice with separate code numbers for the aided and unaided course. Vahile said students’ admission would not be affected.

It is quite possible that a student by virtue of his marks will get admission to a desired college,however he or she may not get admission to the desired vocational course in the same college.It is also possible that a student getting lower marks may get admission to a preferred vocational program in a lower college.Is it not an unjustice to the student getting higher marks in the first college? How this anomoly in the present year’s system aimed to be removed?

Now that 1st list as per CAP is out . and 1st round of Admission procedure is over. I have taken an admission in Dr. Kalmadi Junior college. I have given my choice list of subject. I want Bio + French or Bio + German. What if I dont get subject of my choice? Can I apply for another college? When does that procedure start? 2nd list ? I was told that College will put up the list of alloted subjects on 1st or 2nd August . If I come to know then that I have not got subject of my choice. then will 2nd round admissions be still open? There is clarity on this. can you please elaborate?
