TOI : PUNE: A case has been registered against a retired brigadier for allegedly beating up a 65-year-old woman. The incident took place at Alishan apartments, Salunke Vihar, on Saturday morning.
According to a complaint filed by the victim, Krishna Duggal, with the Kondhwa police station, Brigadier Assalsingh Ilavat (retd), a resident of flat No 3 of the building, entered her flat on the ground floor, caught her by the neck and dragged her, before using an iron rod to hit her.
Ilavat filed a cross-complaint stating that Duggal assaulted him. The Duggal and Singh families are reported to have some dispute stretching back for many years.
Duggal, wife of a retired army captain, along with her grandchildren, was sitting in an open space in the building, an area which is claimed by both the families, when the brigadier and his wife came in and verbally assaulted her. Later, he allegedly came into her flat and hit her.
“The entire episode took place in just 15 minutes,” Duggal said. Her son Ashwan Duggal and others rushed the severely bleeding Krishna to the Sassoon hospital where she was discharged after treatment.
According to the Duggals, a similar incident had happened in 2002, following which the family had lodged a complaint against Singh.
