TOI : PUNE: That genetically inherited dimple on the cheek is no more restricted to a select few. And it’s not only aspiring models or young girls eyeing the hospitality industry who are willing to go under the knife for that prominent hollow on the face. A rising number of women aged between 35 and 45 years in the city have joined the ranks for the surgical creation of the dimple.
“Among the total number of dimple creation surgeries performed in the city, 70 per cent are working women in the age group of 35 years to 45 years. This may be because they have become more conscious about maintaining their looks,” cosmetic surgeon Parag Sahasrabudhe, associate professor of plastic surgery at the B J Medical College and Sassoon hospital told TOI.
“What was earlier considered nature’s gift is now easily achievable through a simple surgical procedure,” adds Sahasrabudhe. Cosmetic surgeon Ashish Davalbhakta agrees: “Surgical dimple creation procedures are on the upswing. Along with routine surgeries done for ageing of the face and body, more and more working women are opting for beautification procedures for the face, like dimple creation. There is a marked increased in the number.” Elaborating on how the demand has increased over the years, Sahasrabudhe says, “The facility to achieve surgical dimples has been available in the city since 2005. Earlier, only girls, between the age group of 20 to 25 years vying for careers in modelling and hospitality industry would go for the surgery. The demand among working women started finding roots since 2007. TOI : PUNE: Netizens in Pimpri-Chinchwad would soon be able to check if the garbage bins in their locality have been cleared or not.
The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has created a web based ‘waste carrier truck management solution’ system on its official website (pcmcindia.gov.in) which helps identify if garbage from bins in the township has been lifted by the trucks. With this citizens as well as the civic authorities will be able to monitor all the 1,700 garbage bins located in the twin township.
On the system monitor, a garbage bin, shown on the map of the locality, is indicated in red colour if it is “unserved’’ in last 24 hours, and the same is shown in green if the bin is “served’’ in the last 24 hours.
Citizens can select any area of the city, divided into four zones. In each of the four zones, the status of any garbage bin located at a particular site description can be checked. The status is updated every five minutes.
Speaking to TOI, PCMC’s medical and health department chief said the trial runs of the system are being conducted at present. “We are hoping to make it fully functional within a months’ time,” he said.
The system works on GPS (geographical positioning system) devices installed for all the 28 compactors which lift garbage everyday. This helps track the movement of all the vehicles during the day. Civic officials can track the time taken for travel, and the duration for stoppage of trucks at every garbage bin. Information can also be sought about the trucks at the central garbage transfer station.
“At present the system is about 75 per cent success. There are some problems where the results are not indicated properly. At some places, there are two garbage bins. These smaller issues are being sorted out,’’ said Nagkumar.
